The Wascana Winter Festival is an indoor and outdoor event. Some on-ice activities like public skating will be held on the dedicated ice rink located at the Legislative Landing on Wascana Lake. Public access points to the rink will be clearly marked. Use ONLY these entrances please. Other events will take place in Wascana Park along Lakeshore Drive and Legislative Drive, Darke Hall and at Wascana Marina off Broad Street.

For the most part the festival is free for you to enjoy, thanks to our generous corporate sponsors. A limited supply of food and drink will be available. Some items like hot chocolate and cookies can be found for free, but other food and drink items will come at your own cost.

Absolutely. Dogs must be kept on leash at all times. Dress Up Your Dog! Take pictures and enter our Photo Contest using the hashtag #WascanaWinterFest.

Public safety is our number one concern. Ice thickness is measured regularly by Wascana Centre engineers to ensure safety. We are restricted to using only the skating rink created at the Legislative Landing, and at Wascana Marina. For safety reasons, all other areas of Wascana Lake ARE STRICTLY OFF LIMITS TO THE PUBLIC.

Dress for the weather, dress in layers to stay warm. Use scarves, toques and mitts to protect exposed skin. Please wear warm boots with good support and treads to prevent slipping on snow and ice. A number of heated warm-up shelters will be provided.

There is no paid or preferred parking this year. Free public parking can be found in and around Wascana Park. PLEASE PARK ONLY IN DESIGNATED PARKING AREAS. DO NOT PARK ON THE GRASS ANYWHERE IN WASCANA CENTRE. Due to Covid restrictions, we are not able to provide shuttle bus service this year.

WE ARE EXPECTING LARGE CROWDS AGAIN THIS YEAR. TO AVOID LONG WAITS, PLEASE CARPOOL, HAVE SOMEONE DROP YOU OFF, TAKE PUBLIC TRANSIT, OR PARK OFF-SITE AND WALK IN, WEATHER CONDITIONS PERMITTING.

Yes. Depending on forecast weather conditions, we will be providing wind shelters and warm-up tents for the public.

Yes. There will be some food and drink stations outdoors in the park.

YES – but only at the ice rink at Legislative Landing! Bring your skates! There will be heated warm-up tents provided.

Outdoor activities may be curtailed or cancelled in the event of severe weather and/or windchill conditions. Please check our social media pages on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram or listen to local radio stations for updates the weekend of the event.

We attempt to provide wheelchair access onto the ice, however weather conditions do apply.

Porta-potties will be set up outdoors. Please refer to the map provided on our website.

Family tobogganing is available on various sites in Wascana Park at your own risk. Please provide adult supervision at all times.
